The conference and workshops
Successful maritime construction projects require skilled contractors, consultants and clients, bound by a fair contract, who are willing and able to work together to resolve technical and management difficulties as they arise.
During the workshops, participants will develop a constructive approach to the planning, design and execution of land reclamation projects. The event will focus on the project management and geotechnical aspects of land reclamation for port extension, urban development and industrial development.
The conference is divided into lectures presented by invited specialists from all sides of the international industry. These experts will give their views on the key issues from different perspectives. Their presentations will be followed by workshop sessions, led by facilitators and senior industry professionals, in which aspects of the key topics will be examined in more detail using several case studies.
The theme of the conference is contract management of land reclamation in all its aspects, including;
- the relationship between end use and functional requirements
- boundary conditions such as environmental conditions (economical, ecological, social), subsoil conditions and borrow area conditions
- translation of the functional requirement for a land reclamation in technical specifications and the related quality control programme including field and lab tests
- working methods, best management practices and state-of-the-art technology
- contract form and best contract management practices for land reclamations
The dialogue between stakeholders will enhance sharing of experiences and mutual learning of best practice.
